The first bullet train was built by Japan and it has given the country a reputation of being more advanced and prosperous. It has allowed for the people to be more mobile at affordable costs. It was about fifty years ago that Japan introduced the first high speed train system known as the Bullet Train. Their network of trains still remains as a standard for those countries that have followed suit and built their own high speed train networks.
Japan launched their bullet train in 1964 and it was known by the term yume no chotokkyu, which means “super-express of dreams” to give a description of what people can expect. This feat was not easy as Japan faced a lot of hurdles. There were numerous opposition from the public, technical difficulties, and costs that were difficult to bear. They took a loan from the World Bank for $80 million which barely covered the expenses of development. Finally, the head of the project, Shinji SogÅ resigned due to extreme pressure from all sides. But the project eventually succeeded and built the world’s first bullet train.
The world’s first bullet train was created in Japan. The bullet train was meant to go from Tokyo and Osaka. This was opened in the year 1964 and it was called Shinkansen bullet train. They say that this was named like this because of its shape. At that time, it was a wonder that it could reach a top speed of 210 KMPH.
Soon after that, there were also bullet trains that were created in other parts of the world. For example, in the year 1977, a bullet train was formed in some sections of Florence. The top speed of this particular train is faster that was made in Japan at 250 KMPH.

Japan takes the credit for bring the first bullet train into the world. This allowed passengers to do two things. They could either get to their work within or around Tokyo very quickly or they could take a day trip to another city in Japan. The very first train was called Yume No Chotokkyu.
This means the super express of dreams. It ran its first service in October 1964. It cost around eighty million dollars to produce this train and track. This train is over fifty years old. The World Bank is the one who helped make this happen because they gave a loan to the company who built the train. It also has a Japanese name and it is Shinkansen.
