No physical object can have a speed that is as fast or faster than the speed of light. As long as the light is traveling through a vacuum, the speed of light will always remain at 300,000 km/s. There are so many reasons for this. Majorly, anything that has mass can't outrun light. This is because the faster an object travels, the heavier it becomes.

For example, there is a limit to where a man he can run to, the more he tries to speed, the more he gets tired. So, it will be practically impossible for an object to outrun light. When an object travels, it becomes heavier and heavier. So, just imagine if it should travel at the same rate with light, that means its mass would become infinite. Light is able to travel that fast because it contains photons, and these photons don't have mass, so the more they travel in a vacuum, the more they achieve their speed.

Simply put, no, nothing can travel faster than the speed of light. Some jets attempt to break the speed, but it is an impossible task. However, as the universe changes, so to will the speed of light. The variables within the universe dictate what the rate of speed is. As the environment changes, so to will the speed. When the speed of light was first calculated, it was noted that it was a constant, meaning that it would never change.

However, as science progresses, there are now scientists that are showing that the variables in the universe dictate just how fast the rate of speed is and that it can slow or become faster, depending on the many different fluxes. How quickly the universe will actually expand, or what the end rate of speed will be is unknown at this time.

There is new information being discovered all the time. While we may not have the answer in our lifetime, it will continue to be monitored and adjusted as needed.
