Speed can be defined as the total distance covered by an object with respect to time. Speed is an interesting topic in physics, and it also comes with calculations. The concept of speed is something everybody is familiar with. As you travel from one point to another, you have actually covered a distance. When you take your car and travel from point A to point B, the speed at which you are moving is being calculated. That's why you are able to know whether you are moving very fast or slow.
Speed is a scalar quantity. It is a scalar quantity because it has only magnitude but no direction. You can travel from point A to point B and the numerical representation of how fast you moved, but you won't get the direction with which you moved. Speed is also dependent on time. That's why the unit of speed is m/s (meters/second).

Speed is the term that is used to describe how fast something or someone is moving. When discussing the speed of light, we are determining how fast light is moving through space. Vehicle speed, running speed, and more can be defined by mathematical equations that take the distance plus the time traveled to determine how fast an object arrived at the desired destination.
Galileo was the first to put the mathematical equations for speed by taking units of time and then calculating the distances that way. There are three different ways to calculate speed. They are: Instantaneous - short distances with a constant speed. Average - speed is divided by time and distance Tangential - the linear speed of something moving in a circular path.
