Aeronautics is the study that deals with the design, construction, mathematics, and mechanics of aircraft and other flying objects. The word “aeronautics” has Greek roots. It was derived from the combination of “air” and “navigation,” which simply means navigating aircraft, but over the years, the field has expanded to include the business and technology that are related to the aircraft.
The four important areas in aeronautics include aerodynamics, material & structure, propulsion, stability, and control. Aeronautics is also divided into three major branches. These are aeronautical engineering, aviation, and aeronautical science.
Aeronautical engineering deals with the design and manufacturing of aircraft and other flying objects. Aviation deals with the operating and flying of aircraft, and finally, aeronautical science is the study that deals with the techniques and dynamics of operating an aircraft.
