How does livestock contribute to agroforestry?

Livestock gain from the shade that forestry provides in climates where all or part of the year is very hot, and with global warming, becoming hotter still. Their health and well-being is clearly benefited. In return, their manure enriches the soil, which in turn, aids the growth and strength and well-being of trees.

Instead of needing large spaces to breed cattle and pigs, agroforestry allows development in marginal areas. Since livestock production must deal with the increased competition between human food and animal feed, the use of less land-hungry methods is advisable.
