Women experience different levels of menstrual cramps. Some get the cramps so bad that they pass out while there are also some women who do not usually feel that bad whenever they have their menstruation. Getting an abortion is different.
If people took the pill, this would be equal to severe menstrual cramps. Some women are usually unable to do anything as the large blood clots are expelled from their body.
Getting an actual abortion will also hurt, especially without the anesthesia. Those who are getting the abortion legally will have nothing to worry about as doctors would try to make it as painless as possible.
Some women describe the pain of abortion to be uncomfortable and similar to menstrual cramps. Hormonal changes resulting from terminating a pregnancy contribute to feeling in a woman’s body.
Keep in mind, everybody is different and experience pain differently. Most women do not report “severe” pain during abortion in first trimester. While many women experience “moderate” pain during surgical abortion under local anaesthesia, much of the pain is similar to or feels like strong menstrual cramping.
Most women report feeling of relief, after the symptoms have been treated with regular ibuprofen or after applying heat.
