There are different laws that are available up to when you can have an abortion. For example, in India, you can only have an abortion before the 20th week of your pregnancy. Beyond that, and it is already too late to get an abortion.
There are also some areas wherein you can only get an abortion during the first trimester of your pregnancy. The moment that you reach the second trimester, it will be harder to find people who will abort the baby.
Usually, when women reach their 24th week of pregnancy, it is already considered to be too late to get an abortion. A late-term abortion can be bad for both the baby and the mother.
There are two forms of abortion: Spontaneous and induced abortion.
Spontaneous abortion is an unintentional expulsion of an embryo before the 24th week of gestation. Induced abortion is an intentional expulsion of pregnancy at any time during the pregnancy.
The most common cause of spontaneous abortion is chromosomal abnormalities in the embryo. This accounts for about 50% of the early pregnancy loss. 80% of these spontaneous abortions happen in the first trimester of pregnancy.
Most induced abortions result from unintended pregnancy. Many women are unwilling to go through the process of bringing forth a child for many different reasons.
