There are different laws that are available up to when you can have an abortion. For example, in India, you can only have an abortion before the 20th week of your pregnancy. Beyond that, and it is already too late to get an abortion.
There are also some areas wherein you can only get an abortion during the first trimester of your pregnancy. The moment that you reach the second trimester, it will be harder to find people who will abort the baby.
Usually, when women reach their 24th week ofpregnancy, it is already considered to be too late to get an abortion. A late-term abortion can be bad for both the baby and the mother.

Many states restrict abortions between 20 and 24 weeks of gestation, with an exception if the woman’s life is in danger. This is because abortion becomes more complicated around the 20th week of gestation because there is much to evacuate at this time.
Another reason 20 weeks is considered the cut off in some states is because a fetus cannot survive outside the womb at 20 weeks gestation. Chances of infection increase at this stage of pregnancy (after 20 weeks). If tissues are left in the uterus, the woman may become infected.
Therefore, it is advised to have an abortion before the 20th week of pregnancy.
