It would depend on the type of zebra that you want to check. The mountain zebra is about 2.4 meters tall while the Grévy's zebra is known to be about 2.7 meters tall. The plains zebra, on the other hand, is about 2.6 meters tall.
Based on these details, it will be safe to assume that they are typically smaller than horses. This does not mean that zebras are not amazing especially when you see them in real life.+
The stripes of the zebra are different but there are some similarities depending on the family from where they come from. This explains why they can recognize each other even though they all look the same at first glance.

Zebras are known to be smaller than horses. For the most part, they may vary in size to other zebras. Since there are different types of zebras, they can be different sizes. A common plains zebra may stand four and one quarter feet tall to the shoulders. Across the body from shoulders to its tail, the zebra can be over eight feet long. Other zebras like the Grevy’s zebra would be bigger than the common plains zebra.
The mountain zebra is littler. Even though these zebras are of different sizes, they appear similar based on their stripes. The mane of the Grevy’s zebra looks bigger than the common plains zebra. The mountain zebra also has regular black and white stripes that are significantly more bold.
There are 3 species of zebras. The largest is the Grevy’s zebra, it weighs 770 to 990 lbs. (about 350 to 450 kg), and it is around 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall from shoulders to hoof. It’s about 2.5 – 2.8 cm from head to tail.
The most common zebra, the plain zebra, is the second largest of the 3. Plain zebra weighs about 386 to 849 lbs. (175 to 385kg). It is about 3.6 to 4.8 ft. tall from head to hoof.
The mountain zebras are the smallest. It height ranges from 1.16 to 1.5m (3 ft. 10 to 4 ft. 11). They weigh from 450 to 820 lbs. (204 to 372 kg).
