The Qin dynasty came to power by overcoming all the sectors of the Zhou dynasty. It was very short, only 15 years long, but very significant as during its period all the borders and administrative systems were laid down. Moreover, the word Qin gave the name China to this vast country.
It was the first unified, multi-national and power-centralized state in history of China and it is often referred to as the original or first dynasty. The Qin dynasty began in 221 BCE and it ended when Liu Bang became the king of Han in 206 BCE, which was the formal beginning of the Han dynasty.
