Discipline is very important in training a child but when it becomes too much, it affects the child in a negative way. Here are some of the effects of over disciplining children.

Discipline is very important in training a child but when it becomes too much, it affects the child

It destroys parent – child relationship: over discipline creates a gap in the relation between a child and the parent. The child will not be free around the parent; the child cannot open up to the parents on issues bothering them because of the fear of what the parent may do to them.

It harms the child’s sense of positive identity; sense of fairness and justice, the child may become withdrawn and fearful.

Therefore, it is important that parents pace the discipline of their child with the child’s capacity to understand.
