Why was Thomas Paine Common Sense an important pamphlet?

Thomas Paine was born in Great Britain but became a strong vocal supporter of the independence of America. He was so vocal that he is credited with being one of the founding fathers who started the American Revolutionary War.'

The British were very strict against the colonists, so it was uncommon for the colonists to be so vocal about wanting independence for the United States. Paine wrote two pamphlets. The more well-known one was called Common Sense. It explained why the colonists should have independence.

Not only was it written but it was also distributed all over the colonies so that they could gain more support from the people in the colonies. However, not all people in the colonies wanted independence. There were some people who were called loyalists and they fought or supported Great Britain during the war.
