If your ex is asking you to resume the relationship then, yes, you would need to inform him that your new relationship has become serious enough for you to get married. Or if you have children together, you must tell him. Otherwise, now your relationship with him/her has ended you don't need to exchange any of your personal news or information.

If your ex is asking you to resume the relationship then, yes, you would need to inform him that

Perhaps you are worried about his/her feelings if they find out from seeing your news splashed over social media. The only other reason why you might tell your ex that you are getting married is to (unkindly) signal a 'one-up-to-me' gesture, which would be a childish act.

It would also suggest that you are not yet mature enough to get married. Such an act as unnecessarily informing your ex of your intended marriage would reflect badly on your character, not his/hers.

No, it’s not necessary to tell your EX that you are getting married, your EX is your past and it is best to let your past go since it’s no longer of importance to you. You broke apart for a reason; your EX does not have to know about all that’s happening in your life.

If your EX is in your life and you just want to share the news, don’t.

If you are planning to do so out of spite to make your EX feel jealous, you shouldn’t. Try to reconsider before you take any action. Take time to heal from the past and focus on the new journey ahead of you.
