There are many instances when leaders’ skills and actions during war may be questioned. As in the case of George Washington, it was not surprising that Congress or even individual citizens might question his leadership during the war.
This was the first time that the country would be fighting together against a country that had a lot of experience fighting wars and they had a huge experienced military. George was starting from scratch for leading his troops.
One time when his leadership was questions was during the time at Valley Forge. This place is known to be very cold and many of the soldiers died there. They were not involved in a battle, but instead they had starved to death or froze to death due to the elements.
