John Paul Jones was an American Revolutionary War hero who was first loyal to Great Britain before becoming loyal to the Patriots. During the war, he commanded the first Navy of the United States.

He then became loyal to Russia since he couldn’t find a job after the war ended. He still remained loyal to the U.S. too. In 1792, Jones became the U.S. Consul. He was responsible for helping get Americans released from captivity, but he was not able to do this job because he died.

In Paris, John Paul Jones had died of interstitial nephritis which is when the kidneys are infected and inflamed. He was only forty-five years old at the time of his death. Even though that seems young, people died earlier in life during these years.
