How did Martha Stewart become a television personality?

By the time Martha Stewart became well-known or even a little known through her show, she already had a few events on her resume. These included babysitting for celebrities. Unlike most people, Stewart became known to popular baseball players like Mickey Mantle by watching their children.

From that point, she appeared on several television commercials when she was a teenager. In college, she was a model and modeled for prominent items like Chanel. This allowed her name and appearance to already be out in the public before she started her magazine and show.

The magazine was published prior to the television show of the same name, Martha Stewart Living. Having the magazine helped pave the way for the television show which made Stewart a television personality.
