There are some people who assume that their cultural background is the same as their nationality. This is not always true. I am having a hard time tracing my ethnic group mainly because I have always lived in the city. I can say though that I am a Bulakenya which means that I am from the province of Bulacan. It was still a province when I was young but as I grew older, it has already become a city.
I have already transferred to the city when I was young but I still visited Bulacan from time to time. Living in Bulacan was different then and it was quiet and more provincial. People were already sleeping at 8 PM and people usually wake up very early.
Malcolm Gladwell shows in his book that ones cultural past actually effects how a family member years down the road can be. Therefore, if your family was a hardworking family, that may give you the traits to be hardworking and all that is left in your life to be successful is fortune. Having rich ancestors doesnt mean that you may become rich because of them because that doesnt show how their work ethic was like.
