Peter Hockless is a partner with Debevoise & Plimpton, resident in the London office. He is a member of the firms Finance Group and leads the English law financing practice in our London office.
Prior to joining the firm, he practiced for 24 years (15 years as a partner) with Allen & Overy in London and in Paris (where he established their office in 1989).
He has had a wide variety of experience in international financing transactions, including syndicated credits, acquisition financings, telecoms and project financings, restructurings, securitisations, structured financings and corporate finance transactions.
During his career, he has represented many of the leading US and European banks and other financial institutions as well as international corporations as borrowers.
Mr. Hockless is a graduate of Cambridge University (1978) and qualified as an English solicitor in 1981. He is also a member of the Paris bar. He speaks French and German.

Allen Davies: With ten years experience of a broad range of financing transactions, London-based Alan Davies is a partner in Debevoises European Financing Practice. His experience covers most areas of financing work, although his particular focus is on acquisition, asset and project financings. In conjunction with advising investment banks on leveraged acquisitions, Mr. Davies was seconded to Goldman Sachs for a year. More recently his focus has been on advising private equity clients on leveraged acquisitions.
He has contributed to a number of publications, including an article for the Euromoney Syndicated Lending Handbook 2004 entitled Recent structural developments in high-yield financings.
Mr. Davies obtained his B.A. and M.A. in law from Peterhouse, Cambridge. He qualified as an English solicitor in 1995.
