Is satire a good way to shed light up on social issues?

The use of satire in a work can bring light about certain social issues, but it depends upon the audience that the piece is being written for. For the most part, pieces with satire in them are generally written for adults or at the very least young adults or older teenagers. Children usually don’t understand satire. Satire is not directly stated; it is in a sense abstract.

So, people should be able to understand information below the surface and think deeply about pieces with satire in them. Otherwise, they won’t be able to figure it out. That is why it is for older people. Even though political cartoons may seem at first that they are for children, they are satirical about social issues that are a good way to shed light on these issues but for adults.
