Satire is one genre in literature or art, but there are different types of satire that could be used by an author when writing a piece. These include the different types of irony. There is verbal irony, dramatic irony, socratic irony and situational irony. Other types of satire that are not irony include travesty, burlesque, parody and farce. Irony is when something happens but the opposite was expected to happen.

A travesty is when something terrible out of the blue happens. Burlesque is an exaggeration of something to happen. A parody is when something is mocked for humor or to make fun of something. Farce is something very funny is laughed at. There are many other forms of satire in the English literature.
