Martin Luther King Jr. was a renowned personality in the Civil Rights Movement. He was born on January 15, 192,9 to a preacher father which most likely led him to become a Baptist preacher too. Martin Luther King Jr. is best known for his famous speech that he gave in Washington D.C. called I Have a Dream speech. Even though he delivered that speech over fifty years ago, people today can still recite parts of it. During King’s childhood, he witnessed and endured many biases and racist issues. King was born in the south, Atlanta, Georgia to be exact. His father’s name was the Reverend Martin Luther King, Sr. and his mother’s name was Alberta Williams King. He is also known for being the first president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.
