Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ and Santa Claus originated from a bishop called Saint Nicholas. St. Nicholas was a Christian bishop who worshipped Jesus. It is said that St. Nicholas gave out all his inherited wealth and travelled around the world to help the needy ones.
Due to all his kind acts, he became the most popular saint in Europe. The connection between Christmas and Santa Claus is that they both practiced charity and forgiveness.
During the middle ages, children were often presented gifts on 6th of December by St. Nicholas.
The custom of presenting gifts to children at Christmas was propagated by Martin Luther as to the previous gifting done on St. Nicholas day.
