Alpine glaciers are glaciers that are former in mountainous regions in bowl shaped hollows called cirque and as the glacier grows the ice slowly flow out of the cirque and into the valley.
The longest alpine glacier is about 62 km in length. It is located on the eastern face of Kangchenjug which is the 3rd highest mountain in the world.
Other examples of alpine glaciers are: Chickamin glaciers which flows through the coastal mountains shared by south east Alaska and British columbia. Eel glacier on mount Anderson and variegated glacier on Saint Elias mountain in Alaska are other examples.
