Ron Gillum vs. Ron DeSantis was highly anticipated but Gillum has conceded when it was evident that DeSantis would win. It is true that Gillum may have some advantages because he is the first black nominee for governor that the state of Florida has ever had.
He also got the endorsement of Senator Bernie Sanders. It just so happens that there were some connotations of corruption that may have occurred during his term as mayor so people cannot help but question how good he would be as a governor. The results were very close but DeSantis won the election for governor. This has made some Democrats sad but the people have already spoken.
