International Women's Day is one of two days that focuses on the problem of violence against women globally. The other day is called the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women . Designated on November 25 by the United Nations General Assembly, the premise of the day is to raise awareness of the fact that women around the world are subject to voilation, domestic violence and other forms of violence. Also, one of the day's goals is to highlight that the scale and true nature of the issue is often hidden. Violence against women remains one of the most consistent violations of human rights across the globe, undermining the welfare and autonomy of women and girls. Women who have been abused, physically or sexually, by their partners report higher rates of mental health issues. That includes depression and anxiety, alcohol and drug abuse and less-to-no control over sexual consent.

Women’s day is created in order to celebrate the various contributions of women to society so far. At the same time, it aims to show people that men and women should be equal. There is a lot of violence against women because they are considered to be the “weaker” sex. Women’s day has been created in order to put a stop to this.
Through women’s day, women can also show the progress that has occurred so far. If in the past, women are not allowed to speak their minds, women are now encouraged to state what they believe is proper and correct. It might be enough to let men know that they should give women the respect that they deserve.
