In more than seventy countries worldwide, including Singapore, Australia, India, the UK, the US, Malta, Croatia, Canada and Hungary, International Men's Day is an yearly international event that's celebrated annually on November 19. Initiated in February 7, 1992, by Thomas Oaster, the idea of International Men's Day was formally conceived on February 8, 1991.
The day's observed by everyone from all walks of life, who support the ongoing effort to improve lives, seek solutions to social problems, comfort the troubled, reform the social outcasts and uplift the dysfunctional. Detailed in "The Six Pillars of International Men's Day”, the goals of celebrating this day include focusing on men's and boys' health, improving gender relations, promoting gender equality and highlighting male role models.
It's also an occasion to highlight discrimination against men and boys and to celebrate their achievements and contributions, especially those that benefits their communities, marriages, families and children. The event's broader and ultimate goal is to promote basic humanitarian values.
