The asteroid belt is a ring of scattered space rock located between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter, and the gas giant Jupiter’s massive gravitational pull prevents the space rocks from colliding together and creating a planet. It is the remaining material from when the solar system was forming that was unable to form planets.

Most of the asteroids revolve around the sun into orbits of Jupiter. They are found within the solar system in the asteroid belt. The asteroid belt is located between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. It consists of millions of individual asteroids of varying sizes.
