Dyscrasia is a blood disorder which can be traced back to ancient times. The main difference between blood dyscrasia and other blood disorders is that blood dyscrasia has certain elements that are too many compared to a normal person’s blood.

If a pregnant woman arrives at the emergency room and she has abruptio placentae at thirty-four weeks’ gestation, then she may be at risk for having the blood disorder. The nurse would most likely be aware of this.

However, there are different blood disorders that the pregnant woman could obtain and then there are different treatments. Most likely, the pregnant woman would obtain the blood dyscrasias known as disseminated intravascular coagulation which proteins create more bloodclotting than what is normal.

Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC).

Abruptio placentae is a cause of DIC because it activates the clotting cascade after hemorrhage.
