Mars has been studied by NASA for a long period of time. For this reason, it is not surprising why most of its surface has already been mapped out. According to some reports, 90% of Mars’ surface has already been checked and mapped.

The mapping is done by the high-resolution camera that was placed on ESA’s Mars Express. This was sent to Mars a long time ago and it is a good thing that it is still working now. It still provides enough information needed to completely map the planet. There are also further developments that people have found out about the planet over the last few years.
