Nikki Haley’s career began when she took a job after graduating from college for FCR Corporation which was an industry with recycling. Then she decided to work for her mom’s store. She used her experience and knowledge of accounting to become the chief financial officer there. From 1998 to 2004, she moved up to different associations and chambers and chaired different foundations to become well known in the state of South Carolina.
For instance, she was the president of the National Association of Women Business Owners. Then in 2004, she won South Carolina House of Representatives seat in the 87th district. From that point, she became governor after becoming the majority whip in the South Carolina General Assembly. She received a lot of firsts in her positions.
