Nikki Haley was born in South Carolina. Her parents came over from India before she was born. Since her father was a professor and her mom was an educated woman with a law degree, they valued education. Haley attended the Orangeburg Preparatory School. Then Haley attended and graduated from a college in South Carolina called Clemson University. She received her bachelor’s degree in accounting.
She has worked in several industries before moving into politics. Haley’s mother opened a clothing store and she worked in the family business for quite a while lending her expertise in accounting to that. In 2011, she became the governor of South Carolina until January 2017 until she became the United States ambassador to the United Nations.
