Everyone knows that Mercury has to be very hot because it is the closest planet to the sun. However, Mercury’s temperatures on this planet change. It can actually get icy and cold in certain areas of the planet due to the planet’s side always facing the sun. It doesn’t move and rotate exactly like the Earth does.

However, for the most part, the temperatures on this planet can reach seven hundred degrees Kelvin which is very hot. Mercury’s distance can range due to its orbit rotation circle is not a perfect round circle. So, there are times when it is closer to the sun at one point in the rotation than other points. Its closest distance is about twenty-eight million miles away.
