How and when did Cruise join Scientology?

L. Ron Hubbard was the founder of Scientology. He began his church in 1953. Many celebrities are or have been a part of that church and besides Tom Cruise who is a prominent member, others include Kirstie Alley, Jenna Elfman, Danny Masterson, Kelly Preston and Giovanni Ribisi. Another celebrity, Mimi Rogers, was a member of the Church of Scientology. Her father was friends with the founder.

However, she has since left the church. She was married to Tom Cruise and introduced him to Scientology during their marriage. He joined the Church of Scientology in 1990 and he believes that Scientology has helped him with his dyslexia. He has spoken frequently about his religion and advocates them. He is one of the most well-known scientologists.
