The primary function of SETI is to explore, understand and explain the origin of life in the universe and the evolution of intelligence and to use the knowledge gained to inspire and guide the present and future generations.
SETI carry out this function by analysing and searching for signals of transmission from extraterrestial intelligence on other planets.
