There are many proposed theories as to what will happen if the sun dies. For one thing the temperature would go down quickly. It can reach 0 degrees Fahrenheit in a week and a -100 degrees in a year. At such temperatures, the oceans would freeze over.
Also, without the light, plants would die off and only the large trees with slow metabolism could survive for a few decades. Moreover, if humans were to survive for a few years they would either do so in submarines in the bottom of the ocean where it would be relatively warm or they could harness nuclear or geothermal energy for power.
