Web browsers are connected to your internet server. When you input a web page it sends a HTTP protocol command to your server which in turn opens the code for the web page. The browser then interprets the code and displays the web page for you so that you are able to browse the net conveniently.
This is how all browsers work. Different browsers have different features incorporated into them which gives them better or poor access, but the central mode of operation is same. They generate a protocol command to the server which is in turn replied to with a web page code which is inferred by the browser.
