KUB stands for Kidney Ureter Bladder. When examining a patient who might have Kidney Ureter Bladder issues, an abdominal x-ray may be done. It is a type of radiograph test. To prepare a client for this test, there is not a lot of things that should be done.

However, the nurse may want to warn the patient about side effects after the test. These include lots of gas or stool after the procedure. When the patient is about to start the radiograph test, the patient will be required to remove their clothing and jewelry.

The procedure will not hurt. The patient may need to take some medications as well as refrain from eating foods and drinking anything but water for a certain period of time before the test.
