The qualities of the Hilux are its durability, robustness and reliability. It's like a Range Rover but with bigger storage, that is a larger boot. It's considered very good value. The most basic model is the price of a hefty deposit on a first home but for durability, long journeys and challenging terrains, it's worth it.
Jeremy Clarkson put the Hilux thoroughly through its paces some while ago, deliberately throwing it around and knocking into things. It still went, even when he drove it in sub-zero temperatures it still started. A top-of-the-range Hilux is now called the Invincible X.
