In Japan, there are very few trash cans around the cities of Japan. They have been taught to take responsibility for their mess and take any garbage home with them for disposal. In buses, individual trash bags are provided at every seat for the express purpose of motivating people to use it for their trash. Every morning you will find various people in Japan sweeping up around their house or place of employment.

On recycling days, you are expected to separate your garbage mindfully. High traffic areas are examined thoroughly for excess trash or waste. Commercial construction vehicles, such as those used for cement making and dirt hauling are kept meticulously clean.
