Mitosis is a part of a process in cell division when the cell is divided into two different cells. There are certain phases of the mitosis process. These phases include the preprophase which is the first phase in the division. Then the next phase is called the prophase which causes the cell to begin to divide. The third phase is the prometaphase which causes changes in the nucleus.

The fourth phase is called the metaphase which causes the chromosomes to start lining up along the middle of the dividing cell. The fifth phase is the anaphase which causes two identical chromosomes to take place. The final phase in the mitosis process is the telophase which stretches out the cell to make it elongated.
