Saturday Night Live entered the night having already made history. During the Creative Arts Awards held on the weekend of September 8th, the sketch comedy won seven awards, bringing it to a total of 71. That's more than any other program in the history of the Emmy's, and it was nominated in three more categories at the telecast. ‘Game of Thrones' won 45 Emmy more than any other primetime comedy in history.
Streaming shows had the potential for winning. Henry Winkler received the first award of the night for best comedy supporting actor. Alex Berstein won her second Emmy for best-supporting comedy actress. She also won for best voice-over performance for the tv show Family Guy.
