HBO came away with 108 total nominations. Netflix topped that with 122 nominations, which marked the first time in 18 years that HBO isn’t the most nominated TV entity. In third place was NBC for 78 nominations. Netflix only won out by just four nominations for 2018 Primetime Emmy Awards.
Netflix’s deeper state of unscripted shows helped to move things over to their favor and HBO did not receive as many nominations for the first time in 17 years. Companies like AT&T want to make HBO more like Netflix. Netflix is going to spend more than $18 billion on content this year alone.
