The accordion originated from Berlin, Germany in Europe. It was invented by Christian Friedrich Ludwig Buschmann in 1822. He called his invention 'Handäoline'. Another version of the instrument was invented by Cyrillus Damian in Vienna in 1829.

He named the instrument 'accordion' and that is where the name of the instrument originated from. Accordion became popular in Europe in the 19th century. Europeans that migrated, made the instrument known all around the world.
