What kind of animals are Opossums?

The opossum is known to be a marsupial. There are different types of opossums that are available but they are usually found in America. Some of these opossums are found in the Western Hemisphere. This type of animal is considered to be an omnivore which means that it can eat both plants and other animals. It basically eats anything edible that it can find. It has some favorites though. It would gladly eat some earthworms and a few birds.

There are some people who get confused with possums and opossums. It should be remembered that these are two different creatures. There are still some studies that are ongoing regarding the immunity of opossums towards the venom of certain animals.
