Noli Me Tángere is a novel. José Rizal wrote it and released in 1887. There were both good and adverse reactions to this novel. Payo was the Archbishop during the release. From a religious standpoint, he found the book to be scandalous and heretical. From a government standpoint, he found Noli Me Tángere to be offensive and unpatriotic.
Friar Salvador Font was a priest. He recommended that it be prohibited in the Philippines. Friar Salvador Font also felt it was an attack on the state, the employees, and the courts. Despite these reviews and recommendations, the novel wasn't banned.
