What is ovulation?

Ovulation is part of the menstral cycle of a female, this is a period whereby the egg that is in an ovarian follicle is been released. The ovarian follicle ruptures and release the secondary ovarian cells.

After this period, the released egg will be ready for fertilization by a sperm.

Ovulation occurs midway into the menstral cycle. It occur after the follicular phase and before luteal phase of menstral cycle. During ovulation, there is a sharp spike in the levels of progesterone and estrogen. The days around ovulation are the most fertile days in a menstral cycle. Ovulation is control by the hypothalamus in the brain which cause the release of hormones from the brain.
