The appendix is located at the lower right part of the abdomen. It is located at the junction of small intestine (ileum) and large intestine (cecum). Sometimes it is attached directly to the cecum. It is about 4 inches long. It appendix is a thin tube, it has no known function.
Many theories say that the appendix houses 'good bacteria' others say it is a remnant from evolutionary past. Surgical removal of the appendix cause no known harm to do patients.
