The Great Schism is a time in history when one group was divided. The word “schism” means a division. In this case, the division was between the East and West areas of the Roman Empire. After many years of being together, these two large groups of people started practicing and believing different things and beliefs about Christianity. They divided into the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Churches.

The Great Schism is a time in history when one group was divided. The word “schism”Even though both groups practice Christianity, there are many different beliefs and values associated with the branches of Christianity. This is believed to have taken place in 1054. There was many conflicts between the two groups before they split which became known as the Great Schism or otherwise known as the East West Schism.
