There are certain steps that a cheetah does in order to hunt its prey. First, the cheetah will stalk its prey. When it finds the prey, it watches it. Then it approaches the prey and pounces on it. Most of the time the cheetah will surprise its prey. Often times, if the prey sees the cheetah, it will run.
Since the cheetah is fast, it will most likely not be able to outrun the cheetah unless it can run for a long period of time without getting caught. Once in a while, the cheetah may hunt in a group, but most of the time they hunt by themselves. Their tactic for attacking the prey is done by surprise and might be difficult to do with other cheetahs around. There would be a greater chance of being seen.
