The giant panda is one of the world’s most endangered species, due to illegal poaching for their soft fur and they are also hunted for food when food sources are low. There are approximately 1500 wild pandas in China. Because of the population development in China, there is anxiety placed on the Pandas due to loss of their habitat because of the increased building to support the population.
Pandas have started to increase in number due to the efforts by China with the creation of Panda reserves, of which there are forty. In 1990 there were also laws passed to protect the Panda; however, they are still considered a rare species.
